Sojourn on dry land!

What an amazing train the express from Porto to Faro proved to be. (We changed at Tunes for Lagos) There were phone chargers with every seat. The train was modern and very comfortable with plenty of leg room and a TV screen showing documentary and cookery programmes. It put UK inter city trains to shame.

So now we are in Praia de Luz, spacious apartment, huge bed, spare bedroom, big kitchen with dishwasher and freezer and washing machine. There is even a swimming pool but, as we don't enjoy swimming in icy cold water, we will stick to the beach if we really feel the need for a dip.

We had been here 48 hours when our youngest daughter, husband and two granddaughters arrived for a week. What a treat!

Lots of days building sandcastles on the beach and paddling and wave jumping at the wr's edge. Freya enjoyed treats like chips and strawberry ice cream and Grandad enjoyed ice cream.

On a day out in Lagos we visited the town's science museum. This is up stairs  behind the fish market and is designed for children and you can use your ticket to come and go all day. What a great! There are interactive activities for all ages, including g a submarine to drive, huge blocks to construct, an outdoor area with  pool with boats Anne air blowers for the sails and wave machines, a huge model pirate ship with treasure chest and a crane and a pulley system. I would definitely recommend the place to families.

We also visited the zoo. Now zoos are not my favourite places but this was a small animal zoo and was well laid out and had a good farm section. Freya's favourite thing appeared to be the real tractor which she could climb on. It proved quite difficult to persuade her to climb down. Millie was just happy wherever we went.

All to soon it was time for them to leave and Scruffbag and I were once more on our own planning for a quit Christmas and lots of country walks.
